BUDI95 Quota Returns to 300 Litres: What Malaysian Drivers Need to Know
BUDI95's monthly basic quota has returned to 300 litres from 1 September 2026. Here's what Malaysian drivers need to know about the updated quota and subsidised RON95

BUDI95 Quota Returns to 300 Litres: What Malaysian Drivers Need to Know
Malaysia's BUDI MADANI RON95 (BUDI95) basic monthly eligibility has returned to 300 litres, effective 1 September 2026. The limit was previously reduced to 200 litres in April 2026 before being restored to 300 litres.
For eligible Malaysian drivers, the adjustment means a higher monthly allowance for purchasing subsidised RON95.
Here's what you need to know.
1. What Changed Under BUDI95?
The main change is the monthly basic eligibility limit:
| Period | Monthly BUDI95 Limit |
|---|---|
| August 2026 | 200 litres |
| From 1 September 2026 | 300 litres |
The adjustment is applied automatically to eligible BUDI95 recipients. Existing eligible recipients do not need to reapply simply because the monthly limit has changed.
2. How Much Is BUDI95 RON95?
Eligible BUDI95 recipients continue to purchase RON95 at the subsidised price of: RM1.99 per litre
The subsidised price and monthly quota are two different things:
Subsidised price: RM1.99/L
Basic monthly eligibility: 300L
If an eligible driver uses the entire 300-litre allocation: 300L × RM1.99 = RM597
This is the cost of purchasing 300 litres at the subsidised price, not the amount of subsidy provided by the government.
3. Who Is Eligible for BUDI95?
The basic BUDI95 category applies to eligible:
Malaysian citizens + MyKad + active driving licence
Eligibility is subject to the programme's applicable requirements. Drivers should check their current eligibility through the official BUDI MADANI system.
4. Do You Need to Use All 300 Litres?
No. The 300 litres is a monthly maximum eligibility limit, not an amount that every driver must use.
For example:
| Monthly Budget | Status |
|---|---|
| 100L | Below quota |
| 200L | Below quota |
| 250L | Below quota |
| 300L | Reaches basic quota |
| Above 300L | Applicable non-subsidized pricing may apply |
Your actual fuel consumption will depend on your vehicle, driving distance, traffic conditions and fuel efficiency.
5. What Happens After You Use 300 Litres?
Once your applicable BUDI95 balance is exhausted, subsequent RON95 purchases are subject to the applicable non-subsidized fuel price. This makes monitoring monthly fuel consumption particularly useful for people who drive frequently or travel long distances.
Remember:
300L = subsidised monthly eligibility ceiling
It does not mean all RON95 purchases remain at RM1.99/L after the quota has been used.
6. How Can Drivers Plan Their Fuel Usage?
A simple way to estimate fuel consumption is:
Distance ÷ Fuel Efficiency = Estimated Fuel Required
For example, if your vehicle averages 15 km/L and you plan to travel 600 km: 600 km ÷ 15 km/L = 40 litres
At the BUDI95 subsidised price: 40L × RM1.99 = RM79.60
This is only an estimate. Actual fuel consumption can vary depending on traffic, vehicle type, road conditions, load and driving style.
BUDI95: What Drivers Should Remember
From 1 September 2026:
300L monthly basic eligibility → RM1.99/L subsidized RON95 → Automatic adjustment for existing eligible recipients → Non-subsidised pricing applies after the applicable quota is exhausted
The return to the 300-litre limit gives eligible drivers a larger monthly subsidized RON95 allowance, particularly useful for those who commute or travel longer distances.
